Big Comedy Night: Marcus Brigstocke & Rachel Parris

4th Jun
7pm

This June we’re bringing you a special, double-headliner show with Marcus Brigstocke and Rachel Parris.

Marcus Brigstocke is a major British comedy talent as writer, actor, presenter and performer. It’s said he is heard on Radio 4 more frequently than the shipping forecast.

On TV Marcus launched The Late Edition, on BBC4 and has hosted and appeared as a panellist on Have I Got News For You, and played King Stupid in Stupid on CBBC. He stretched himself further, joining various celebrities in learning French in Excuse My French and injuring himself in Channel 4’s ski-jump challenge, The Jump. He was the host of I’ve Never Seen Star Wars on both radio and TV, a regular on panel shows from QI to Just A Minute, and has even cropped up on Question Time, Newsnight, and This Week. On Radio 4 he is the angry youngish man on The Now Show, with Punt and Dennis, and his own show The Brig Society.

A fixture at the Edinburgh Fringe, Marcus’ live performances sell out across the country. On the big screen he has appeared in Love Actually, Piccadilly Jim, Telstar: The Joe Meek Story, and Beyond The Sea. He played King Arthur in the hit Monty Python musical Spamalot. He’s even appeared on a No.11 chart ‘hit’ with DJ Dee-Kline – a logical progression from his very brief early career as a podium dancer.

Rachel Parris is a BAFTA Nominated comedian, musician actor and improviser, best known for her viral segments on BBC2’s The Mash Report. She has appeared on Live At The Apollo, Mock The Week, QI, Would I Lie To You, Hypothetical and recently, Comedians Giving Lectures, and Harry Hill’s ClubNite on Channel 4, as well as a one-off archive show The Girls Guide to TV, for BBC2.

As a musical comedian, she has won critical acclaim for her solo shows which have run at the Edinburgh Fringe, the Soho Theatre London and on national tours, and has been awarded The Chortle Award for Best Variety Act, Best Musical Comedy Show (Whats On London) and Best Jokes of the Fringe (Telegraph). “Beautifully crafted and performed… tears of laughter”. – The Guardian Rachel also guests with the Comedy Store Players and Whose Line is it Anyway and appears regularly on BBC Radio 4, including in The Now Show, The News Quiz and I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue and a forthcoming standup special. As an actor she has appeared in the IT Crowd Special on Channel 4, BBC2’s Murder In Successville, Plebs on ITV2, Russell Howard’s Good News, satirical sketch show Revolting and more recently, in There She Goes for BBC 4.
