A FAIRYTALE CHRISTMAS TAKES A NEW DIRECTION

Hear ye, hear ye! Christmas is just around the corner and that can only mean one
thing – pantomime season is upon us! Oh yes it is! This year GADOC is delighted
to present a truly magical and musical production of family favourite ‘Sleeping
Beauty’.

Guernsey audiences are invited to join the Royal Court in Muddleby on Marsh for
the christening of the King and Queen’s newborn daughter Princess Rose. But
brace yourselves – there’s a wicked witch on the prowl; it seems she did not
receive an invitation and she is out for some old-fashioned fairytale revenge!

As a first-time director, Stephanie Andrijasevic is hugely grateful to her cast and
hard-working production team for helping bring her vibrant vision of this classic
tale to life. Packed with incredible costumes inspired by 19th century fashion,
spellbinding song-and-dance numbers, and plenty of traditional panto humour for
all the family, the show will put on the Ritz from once upon a time to ever after...

Stephanie says, "I chose Sleeping Beauty as it was always a favourite fairy story of
mine, and the hundred year period meant I could explore some of my favourite
periods for costume!"

Over the past twelve months, GADOC has successfully welcomed several new
directors to its ranks. Last year saw Claire Cathcart and Jodie Hicks collaborate on
the club’s 63rd annual pantomime Mother Goose, and earlier this year Michael
Sullivan-Pugh took the reins on two very different productions - rock musical
‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ and Agatha Christie’s suspenseful courtroom drama
‘Witness for the Prosecution’.

Stephanie says, "The thing that appeals to me about directing is being able to
create a different world on stage in which to tell a story, and working as part of a
team to achieve that.”

GADOC first staged a version of ‘Sleeping Beauty’ in 1961 at The Little Theatre
and this is the sixth time the club has performed it in their 95 year history.

‘Sleeping Beauty’ will run from Saturday 17 – Saturday 31 December with fourteen
performances.
