JOIN US FOR AN ATMOSPHERIC EVENING AT TOWN CHURCH FOR A SELECT SET OF SACRED CHORAL MUSIC
MUSIC PERFORMED BY THE WORLD-RENOWNED CHOIR OF TRINITY COLLEGE CAMBRIDGE.
The Choir of Trinity College Cambridge, voted the fifth best choir in the world by
Gramophone magazine, consists of around thirty Choral Scholars and two Organ
Scholars, all students at the University. The choir's tradition dates back to the 14th
century, with female voices introduced in the 1980s. Under Stephen Layton, the choir pioneered livestreaming Chapel services, a practice continued by Steven Grahl, appointed Director of Music in 2024.
The choir focuses on singing liturgy in the College Chapel during term, with a
repertoire from both Catholic and Protestant traditions. Outside term, they perform
and record extensively, including notable collaborations with renowned orchestras and broadcasts on the BBC. Their discography includes award-winning recordings and Grammy nominations.
The choir tours internationally, having performed in Europe, the USA, Canada, South Africa, and more. Since 2012, they have livestreamed all services, with a searchable archive of over 7,500 tracks available online.
"Virtuoso is the right word. I for one can't immediately think of any more appropriate way of describing singing of such staggering accomplishment." - BBC Music Magazine
