Charlie Buchanan studied Fine Art painting at Falmouth School of Art before travelling widely and then settling in Guernsey. Her practice is widely influenced by stories and the power they have to shape our lives.

Charlie loves stories of all kinds but is particularly interested in exploring how they shape and mirror the mythic nature of the everyday. Charlie works in watercolour to produce works of vibrant colour and atmosphere which although based in narrative are open ended and invite personal interpretation. Her images are fairly large in scale for the media and and begin with intense drawing practice followed by imaginative investigation. Reading widely is hugely important to Charlie and alongside her family and the beautiful landscapes of her island home is her biggest inspiration. Charlie's work falls between Fine Art and Illustration. She has illustrated and published 3 books with her husband Magnus.
