Chris George: 50 Years of Faces Charity Auction

11th Dec
5:15pm

With the generous support of Martel Maides Auctions and the Guernsey Press, Guernsey Museum is proud to announce it will be holding a special auction featuring the images in our current temporary exhibition: Chris George: 50 Years of Faces.

For five decades, Chris George has captured the essence of Guernsey through thousands of portraits, landscapes, and event photographs. In this exhibition, we've delved into his remarkable archive to showcase a curated selection of his favourite images, accompanied by personal reflections from Chris himself.

This auction offers a unique opportunity to own one of these stunning portraits, created by one of Guernsey's most celebrated photographers.

All proceeds will go to Guernsey Motor Neurone (GMN), a charity close to Chris's heart.

Join us for this special event at Guernsey Museum at Candie, Candie Gardens, on Thursday 11th December 2025 17:15 - 19:30 (bidding starts at 18:00)

All are welcome to attend.

If you are unable to join us in person but would like to bid, pre-auction bids can be placed in person at Guernsey Museum at Candie before the event.

Quote from Susie Hunt of GMN:

'Guernsey Motor Neurone exists to support and care for anyone living with MND in the Bailiwick of Guernsey, their families and carers. We are so incredibly grateful to Chris (George) for choosing our charity to benefit from the auction of his wonderful exhibition photographs. Every penny raised will help ease the pain and suffering of islanders with MND and we can't thank him - and everyone involved in the auction, enough for their support.'

Quote from Helen Glencross, Head of Culture and Heritage Services:

"The exhibition has been incredibly popular, and it's been wonderful to celebrate Chris George's remarkable contribution to Guernsey's cultural life. We felt an auction was a fantastic way to utilise the exhibition prints while also raising money for Guernsey Motor Neurone. We are very grateful to Martel Maides Auctions and the Guernsey Press for their generous support in making this event possible."
