GADOC presents: Me, Vashya & After Miss Julie
7:30pm - 10:30pm
Following its successful debut in 2023, GADOC Fringe is back with an exciting double-bill of two delicious dramas. They are After Miss Julie by Patrick Marber (of 2004’s ‘Closer’ starring Jude Law, and 2023’s ‘The Critic’ starring Ian Mckellen) and Me, Vashya by Tennessee Williams (of ‘Street Car Named Desire’ and ‘Cat on Hot Tin Roof’).
Me, Vashya, is a dark and gritty political drama written by the famous American playwright Tennessee Williams, which depicts Vashya Shontine, a charismatic expat who has established himself as the world’s leading munitions manufacturer in the current war. Vashya is a man both praised and despised around the world, but how long can Vashya’s keep his true ambitions a secret?
After Miss Julie is a seductive and suspenseful drama that relocates Strindberg’s 1888 Swedish play to England on a hot summer night in 1945. John, a servant to an English Lord and who dreams of rising above his station, and Julie, the English Lord’s daughter who is struggling to process her recently broken off engagement, engage in a sultry game of cat and mouse mixed with upstairs/downstairs that could ruin both of them.
Both plays are one act and will be performed back-to-back, with a 15 minute interval in between.
Please be aware that ‘After Miss Julie’ contains infrequent strong language and discussion of mature topics (including sexual themes and suicide). Audience discretion is advised. To find out more about becoming a member of GADOC, go to our website www.gadoc.org.gg
