Poet Laureate Simon Armitage is best-known as an award-winning poet and lyricist who also writes for film, theatre, television and radio.

Join us for a special evening as Poet Laureate Simon Armitage reads from his latest books: Magnetic Field, poems inspired by the West Yorkshire village where he grew up and began life as a writer, and his highly engaging translation of The Owl and the Nightingale, a jewel of Middle English verse. He will also read some new unpublished poems, answer questions from the audience and sign books.

Simon Armitage's poems have been studied in schools for two decades now. A highly engaging performer, Simon Armitage will introduce and read from his work before taking questions. He is Professor of Poetry at the University of Leeds and was elected Professor of Poetry at the University of Oxford (2015-2019).
