Guernsey Improbables - Improv comedy course
7pm - 9:30pm
More improbable fun
Guernsey Improbables is back with more comedy. After the sold out success of their stand-up comedy course and show case at the end of July, they’re back with ‘Improvise your Joy back!’ improv comedy course. The eight week course is open to everyone, from absolute beginners to those who are used to treading the boards.
Artistic Director of Guernsey Improbables Sarah Hansmann Rouxel had this to say about the course: ‘There have been scientific studies that have found the rich creative process involved in learning improvisation is incredibly statisfing to the brain, not only by releasing ‘happy hormones’ like dopamine and endorphins, but in actually helping to rewire the brain in positive ways. That’s why it’s not just great for actors, but anyone who wants to learn a new skill and have fun doing it.’
The enthusiasm of past participants in the course is plain to see as many come back to do the course again and again.
Diana Hurwitz performed in the improv showcase earlier this year and had this to say about the course, ‘Sarah, from the Guernsey Improbables Team, has been an absolute beacon of joy for me. Every class has been an uproariously good time as we all play improv games together, in the process letting ourselves belly laugh and ultimately find our way through harder times. My favourite lesson has been the exercise in saying YES! when we want to say NO! because we think we have control or want to hold onto a particular idea for our scenes but improv doesn't work that way...and neither does life! What a fantastic class this has been and I'm going to miss it so much when it's done. Highly recommend it!!’
And Richard Corbin said it was ‘the best way to spend a couple of hours in the evening. Make new friends and create your own hilarious fun and learn at the same time.’
The 8 week course will run on Wednesday evenings starting on the 13 of September from 7- 9:30pm. The full course cost £90 and tickets can be purchased www.ticketsource.co.uk/guernsey-impro or emailing improbablesguernsey@gmail.com for more information.
