Guernsey Symphonic Winds Summer Concert

2nd Jul
7:30pm

Conductor Alan Gough

With special guests: Guernsey Welsh Male Voice Choir and Solo Trombone Greg Male

Guernsey Symphonic Winds provide an evening packed full of music delights guaranteed to raise the spirits. A programme of light classics and popular music from the Wind Band repertoire is on offer, from Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance No. 4 to a foot tapping Beatles Medley. Be prepared to be entertained.

Special guest soloist Greg Male, a young man from Guernsey, has recently completed a Music Degree on Trombone at the Birmingham Conservatoire. He will join the band with a performance of Colors by Bert Appermont. This is a testing piece for both soloist and wind band which is full of lovely, lyrical melodies and thrilling rhythms and harmonies.

Adding a well-loved contrast to the concert is The Guernsey Welsh Male Voice Choir with their conductor Fiona Le Tissier. This choir has built up a reputation locally for the beautiful tone and blend of voices that it produces. They will be singing items from their varied repertoire.

Band and choir will come together to perform the Welsh Hymn “Cwm Rhondda” and the American favourite, “The Battle Hymn of the Republic”.

This is always a very popular event so please be sure to book early.
