Stand Up Comedy with Geoff Whiting!

UK Comedy Headliner to Join Growing Guernsey Stand-Up Scene
A growing grassroots comedy scene in Guernsey is set to take another step forward this month as Improbable Comedy Jam welcomes top UK comedian Geoff Whiting for a special live stand-up night featuring a packed line-up of established local acts performing their best material in support of the headline set.
The comedy night, organised by Guernsey Improbables, has become a regular fixture at The Vault over the past year, helping to nurture new comedy talent on the island through open mic nights and weekly practice sessions.
Since launching, more than 20 first-time performers have taken to the stage, with several now becoming regular acts and some even progressing to supporting established UK comedians at local gigs.
Headliner Geoff Whiting has performed alongside many of Britain’s best-known comedians, including Michael McIntyre, Dara Ó Briain, Lee Mack and Milton Jones. Described by The Radio Times as “one of Britain’s funniest men”, he is known for his sharp crowd work and years of experience on the UK comedy circuit.
But organisers say the real story is the growth of a homegrown comedy community.
Sarah Hansmann Rouxel, who runs the nights alongside Marc Cohen, said:
“Developing a stand-up comedy scene from scratch isn’t easy, but I’m really glad that we’ve given local stand-ups a chance to develop their skills and confidence. Some of the people who first walked into the room just wanting to give it a go are now regular performers, and some have even moved on to supporting big-name comedians.”
She added:
“There’s a real sense of community around it. It’s supportive, welcoming and genuinely exciting seeing people improve each month and finding their own voice on stage. Bringing someone like Geoff over gives local acts the chance to perform as part of a proper comedy club-style night and learn from somebody with huge experience.”
The event will feature a showcase of some of Guernsey’s best emerging comedy talent before Geoff Whiting headlines the evening.
