It is well established that public art supports regeneration whilst adding vibrancy and fun to the surrounding area. It gives a community sense of place and pride, whilst stimulating economic activity.

The Arch Art project is to create a gallery of public art in the Market Street Arches. Bailiwick Estates and Guernsey Arts are working together to develop the Arch Art project within the Market Street Arches, creating a vibrant “Public Art Gallery.”

Guernsey Arts are seeking proposals from locally based artists for these pieces of art.

The chosen pieces will be painted on the Arch walls, and therefore will need to be 2D. Due to the scale of the Arches, the judges will consider submissions put forward by all artists, If the artist putting forward a successful proposal cannot complete the work on their own, then Guernsey Arts will obtain the help of an artist who is confident at working on a large scale.

This may be an outcome in the artists style, but could also be influenced by current topics including, environment, nature, health, peace, the digital world or metaverse.
