About Amanda:
Amanda Brun is a parent, teacher, artist, writer and musician, taking inspiration from the history and folklore of her home - the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
Self-taught after leaving school, Amanda loves to experiment with a range of media to create highly patterned and whimsical illustrations inspired by the beauty of the Bailiwick of Guernsey, its history and mythology, adding a sprinkle of her own imagination.
Amanda loves to create and retell the stories of the islands through the visual arts, the written and spoken word, and through song lyrics.
As Amanda says - “The book began as a personal challenge during lockdown to create an image for each letter of the alphabet associated with Guernsey. I loved reading an alphabet book with my children when they were small, and they had really benefited from that in their early reading. I thought therefore it would be a wonderful way of engaging local children in discussions about local places and folklore, as well as familiarising them with the alphabet.”
