Women's Songwriting Workshop
13th Jul
1:30pm - 4:30pm
1:30pm - 4:30pm
We're running a free songwriting workshop for women this summer!! Brought to you by the team behind IWD 2024, the event is aimed at beginner/intermediate musicians. All women ages 11+ with some experience/interest in songwriting are welcome.
What to expect:
A group based workshop run by Kiya & Eloise working off of the group’s common goals. Starting with icebreakers and a warm up, we will cover things like song structure, inspiration, methods of writing, analysing popular songs, and recording methods. The session will involve group discussion as well as practical work, including songwriting as a group. There may be opportunities to work on people’s individual projects too, and get feedback from the group/leaders, so do prepare for this if you’d like to share your work.

Kiya & Eloise have lots of local experience as performers and songwriters for both of their solo projects, bands, and some experience writing with software instruments for short films. We are NOT experts, and songwriting is a very personal thing to many people. We will be drawing knowledge from our lived experiences, and encourage everyone to do the same in the session.
What to bring:
Yourself
Your preferred instrument (amps not provided, noise level to be kept to an acoustic standard)
Your songwriting notebook, or something to write in
Pencil or pen
An idea of your personal goals
