Award Winning String Quartet to Perform in Guernsey

The Viatores Quartet, a young string quartet based in Berlin, will be performing Antonio Vivaldi’s timeless masterpiece, 'The Four Seasons' in the Town Church on Tuesday, August 19th.

The leader of the Viatores Quartet, Louisa Staples, and her brother Samuel – both professional musicians - have for the past 8 years been Artistic Directors of the highly successful Alderney Chamber Music Festival (ACMF), which is known for bringing world-class classical music to the Channel Islands.

This will be the second time that they have brought an ensemble to Guernsey, fresh from the Alderney festival.

The Viatores (which means ‘Travellers’ in Latin) Quartet has been awarded several prizes at international competitions and in September 2025 they have been invited to the Banff International String Quartet Competition in Canada as one of only ten groups from all over the world.

Vivaldi’s ‘The Four Seasons’ is a cornerstone of the classical chamber music repertoire. This will be the first performance by professional musicians in Guernsey for many years.
Beyond performance, Samuel and Louisa are keen to support young Guernsey talent through potential talks or master classes. Students from Elizabeth College Summer Orchestral Course (ECSOC), which is being held concurrently, are especially invited to attend the concert.
