GUERNSEY ARTS PARTNERSHIP WITH GUILLE-ALLÈS LIBRARY - BUSKING AMP TO LOAN
Guernsey Arts is proud to announce a new partnership with Guille-Allès library - two battery powered amp setups will now be available for loan to musicians wishing to perform to the people of St. Peter Port.
The aim of this initiative is to make busking even easier and more accessible to musicians, all while injecting vibrancy into Town.
The amps can be loaned out for a period of 5 days from the Guille-Allés library.
Jade Kershaw, Community & Public Realm Officer at Guernsey Arts, comments:
“Busking is a fantastic way to create additional vibrancy within our Town, and Guernsey Arts wants to help promote this form of Public Art as much as possible. We are delighted to be partnering with the Guille-Allès Library on this initiative for this reason: to improve accessibility to the arts for our community. We’re thrilled to be able to offer this equipment for performers locally, and encourage the public to support buskers out and about in St Peter Port!”
Adam Bayfield, Head of Marketing & Customer Services at Guille-Allès Library added:
“The Library is committed to promoting creativity and the arts, and we’re
proud to be partnering with Guernsey Arts on this initiative to make busking more accessible for local performers. The amps form part of our ‘library of things’ collection, along with litter pickers, bat detectors, and other physical objects available for loan. To borrow one, all you need is a library card – it’s free to sign up in the Library or online.”
Busking not only contributes to an atmospheric and bustling highstreet, but it also provides performers with an opportunity to gain experience and get their voice out there, all while giving the public a chance to discover their next favourite performer! Busking is not limited to singing; allowing for variety, diversity and equal opportunities for all local performers - both newcomers and pre-established acts.
Guernsey Arts has worked to ensure that the busking application process, and the loan of amps is as easy as possible. This initiative aims to remove the financial limitations of having to purchase equipment - which we hope will encourage more performers to share their art with the island.
The amps are easy to use, include instructions, and are lightweight; making them the perfect resource for beginners and experienced artists alike.
Guernsey boasts an impressive and diverse range of talent, coming from people of all age groups; support your local buskers and help us to grow our amazing creative scene.
